Bank account for housebound parent

My mother is housebound, she has a current account with the local branch of the Yorkshire Bank. She has received a letter stating that the branch will be closing at the end of the month.
She wants to transfer her account to another local bank but obviously being housebound she will be unable to go into a branch to do this. (She is only able to leave the house under medical supervision / by ambulance). Does anyone know if any of the banks do 'home visits' or have any suggestions how to go about this?

I don't imagine any bank would do home visits, but she could open an account online and have you as a signatory for anything she needed to do at a branch?Gone ... or have I?0

Most banks do online banking these days & you can open up an account online.
Yorkshire bank are also online http://www.ybonline.co.uk/
Could she manage her finaces this way as she wouldn't even need to leave the house.I'd rather regret the things I've done than regret the things I haven't done.

No idea, but online takes only minutes and your parent can continue :
- to use the bank that she trusts and has been familiar with for years
- can make all transactions from the security of her own home from that point on
- gives you parent much more independence and power over her own affairs
If your parent can '' only leave the house under medical supervision '' how does she manage with the Yorkshire ?Disclaimer : Everything I write on this forum is my opinion. BIB: She manages fine; all her direct debits etc have been in place for many years, if any money needs to be paid in either myself or another relative go into the branch on her behalf. Other than that her account 'runs' itself.0 -
Thank you.

Put her on, the fact she doesn't have it yet means nothing, a scrap PC for £100 will give her that freedom she needs and even your good self and other family members will also benefit.
Alternatively you do it your end, your mother needs to do nothing at all [ you are already helping by managing your mothers affairs ] and as stated above you all benefit from the freedom it gives.
You can tranfer the dot.gov.pension etc. Just a thought - think about itDisclaimer : Everything I write on this forum is my opinion. Some bank accounts can be operated via the PO, ie you can pay money in there, and withdraw cash there, and pay bills over the counter.
Would be worth checking if YB is one of them, assuming you are in easy reach of a PO of course!Signature removed for peace of mind0 -
If her account 'runs itself' then it shouldn't be a problem not having a branch close by.
Can she use the telephone? It's still possible to do phone banking which existed before the internet.Ær ic wisdom funde, ær wearð ic eald.
