Which facial moisturiser do you use?

Hi everyone

Do you use any of those expensive 'miracle' creams?

Does the cost of the moisturiser affect your budget, in the sense that if your expenses are a little low do you use a cheaper alternative?

I use Astral and tend to stock-up if there are any special offers. I must have about 10 tubs upstairs. Some people say it is really greasy but if I was to change, it would burn my skin. I did try Liz Earle's moisturiser. It made me look radiant but my skin felt dry towards the end of the day maybe because my skin is used to Astral- maybe because it is a heavy moisturiser.

I look forward to your responses. Thanks :o

I use the Johnsons 24h one with 15spf for dry skin, it's nearly always on some sort of offer, 3 for 2 or 2 for £4. I love it, only thing is I use loads of it.

I use Superdrug's Vitamin E range, about £2.50/£3 per item and then use Olay's Touch of Foundation tinted moisturiser on top during the day.

I use the Superdrug Vitamin E one as well. I can't say any of them make my skin noticeably better or worse, so don't see the point in spending loads.
  • I have been using Cowshed one. I buy 20ml trial sizes for quite cheap off ebay. I really like it as I have sensitive skin.

Boots expert sensitive hydrating moisturiser, in a round pot. Lovely, not greasy and not irritating.

I usually try to use a small variety so that my skin doesn't get too use to one type and I would get them when they're on offer and stock up! I love Astral, it really locks in the moisture. Currently am using simple Derma intensive relief cream, got it from Lloyds Pharmacy Buy 1 get 2 free offer, and am quite happy with it so far. I've also used Johnsons 24hr moisture body lotion, Botanics enriching body cream, love it and Nivea rich care body moisturiser. I've never tried those really expensive ones though!

Have been through SO MANY moisturisers and found that my skin is basicly really fickle and doesn't like certain products.

It doesn't like mineral oil, petroleum jelly, lanolin oil...and countless other man made things. I try a product for a month, if by then my skin has had enough it shows (normally begins to show after the first week, gets worse to the second week, painfully bad by then and I then see how long I can stand it! Though partly due to the fact that if I pay for something, regardless of the cost I want to get as much as I can from it!!)

I have tried Boots No.7 (a few different types incl. P&P), Vitamin E45 cream, Nivea, Olay....many others, they all gave me really painful deeply inbedded white-head spots which took weeks to go away and months to fade.
I have tried a bunch of natural products, decided I didn't like Rose Oil, made my skin sticky. Didn't like coconut oil; bought me out in spots, I did like Aveda but waaaay too expensive, loved Nuxe but again very expensive. I used to get it from Boots but they stopped selling it so not its only as a gift I can get a pot.

I am yet to find an affordable cream I like, but seem to be able to exist on samples wherever I can get them!

Dermalogica, Elemis, Kiehl's (just not the Ultra: it burns my skin!), Aveda....gifts with purchase, ebay, brand suggestions and freebies from friends/family they don't want tend to be how I get by. Gives me enough time to save for decent stuff!

I'd say visit a brand concession, explain that your looking for a new cream but are wary of paying so much for a brand and then finding your skin reacts, explain it takes a good week for your skin to react and that your not sure what your looking for. You may get fobbed off, you may get some suggestions, either way you've not got anything to lose besides a few minutes of your time. Try this when the stores are empty, mid day mid week sort of thing when the sales assistants are more then willing to give you their time. If you do decide you like a product, buy during a "bonus time" (or similar) or try to look at the ingredience and match with cheaper on the shelf brands to see if there are any similar products out there. Even googling the first 5-10 items on the ingredience list can help.

I'm an Aldi fan! Serum for £3.49 & Q10 moisteriser for £1.99. I have problem skin & tried it last year seeing it was so cheap....I don't regret it. The best I've used & believe me I've tried lots like Clarins, Clinique, Arden.....Aldi is the best. I also like Nivea Q10 (same stuff) but cheaper! My skin has never been so clear!

Until very recently, I mostly used No. 7 P&P.

However I saw recommendations on here for Aldi's skincare products and bought a pot of the day cream. Think it was only £2 or £3.

I love it! It feels great when I put it on and keeps me moisturised all day. At around the same time, I also saw recommendations for Clarisonic on here.

I bit the bullet and bought one and it is FANTASTIC. I found it hard to believe the people that claimed a visible difference in skin after just 5 or 6 days, but I really noticed a massive difference after just a few days.

I have only been using it for just over a month but would absolutely not be without it now. Means I can also bin my facial exfoliator :)
