It is a little too large to be taken over be a larger society without the larger society having to ask their own members first.

Only Nationwide & Britannia could do that. Nationwide is busy with taking over Portman and Britannia is still integrating Bristol & West.

Are you talking about paying a windfall if they merge with an equal partner? That is possible but it would be a first within my memory.

But then I don't go back as far as you .

It was the bit about Nationwide not being able to merge with Derbyshire without asking their membership first that got me...that's exactly what they did!
