I downloaded this program in order to organize the music on my mp3 player for copying to a cd-r. Put mp3 player in to computer and music shows up on Mp3Tag, but when I attempt to edit a track this shows up: File D cannot be accessed.
Any ideas please ??

Bu***r me this area of mp3 stuff requires you to be an "Einstein"!
All I want to do is copy the contents of my mp3 player to a CD-R.
But instead of alphabetical order, I won't it in my own folder order.0 -

Copy them to an area of your Hard Drive, create a folder structure, cut/paste them into the folders, then write the folders to CDR0 -

Are you trying to edit them directly on the mp3 player (which is connected as Drive
....?) - maybe the mp3 player is a read-only device.
Copy the mp3s to an area of your Hard Drive and edit them there.0 -

It's primarily gonna depend on the player anyway. Not all can do folders regardless of ID3's. Does you player sequentially autoplay or at least browse folders in that first instance ? If it does not you may have to edit the ID3's and put them all in the root.Disclaimer : Everything I write on this forum is my opinion. We're trying to order them for writing to CDR, though, not for the player....0 -
If I'm reading this right, the problem you're encountering is caused because the computer doesn't have facility to use ID3 track order to arrange the files in each folder.
You need to copy the files off to your hard drive (it'll make it quicker, apart from anything else) then use mp3tag to rename each file in each folder using the Tag->Filename button.
Use something like %track% %title% as the rename option - you need trackname at the front.
Note - make sure the early tracks have leading zeros; 01, 02, 03... otherwise you'll still get the wrong order - 1, 10, 11, 12...2, 20, etcI'm dreaming of a white Christmas.
But, if the white runs out, I'll drink the red.0 -

Ok, but unless the O/P first tests the end players capacity to do what you want the way you want it done, any no amount of ID3 option editing will do what the players EEprom will not do.Disclaimer : Everything I write on this forum is my opinion. So...I eventually did my editing on the tracks with mp3tag and "moved" the whole 250 files to windows media player. The intention was to burn these to CD (I know I wouldn't get the lot on).
Firstly I tried to copy them, but it appeared stuck on the final track for ages, so I tried "moving" them instead.
However, they are not there
. Is there any way of undoing the action?
Any help please?0 -
Why do you need to 'move' them to WMP?
Why not just burn them to CD from the folder that they're in at present, with something like Nero or Burrrn ???0
