Homesurvey vs Homebuyer's report

The Independent Surveyors Association has created a service called the ISA Homesurvey.
From their website I understand it to be an intermediate service between Valuation and Homebuyer's Report.
The website doesn't make it clear what the differences are between the two. Anybody know?
Would like to make an informed choice by comparing the two
Thanks in advance

Who are the Independent Surveyors Association and are they also members of RICS and if not, why not?0

I believe it is just an association of members, rather than a firm. I would assume the association doesn't have to be a member of RICS, the individual members would.BitterAndTwisted wrote: »Who are the Independent Surveyors Association and are they also members of RICS and if not, why not?
Their website states
All members of ISA are professionally qualified chartered surveyors as denoted by the letters FRICS or MRICS after their name.0 -
I can't imagine what use an intermediate service between a valuation survey and a homebuyer's report would be. I'd have thought that such an association should be promoting a full structural survey or something between that and the homebuyer's. Odd.0

That would be a bit selfish. Surely a professional organisation should be looking to fulfil the needs of customers. The three different kinds of Surveys (Valuation, HBR, BS) may not be suitable for everybody.
Maybe they have seen a gap in the market and thought to introduce a 4th option of their own as it might suit some customers.
Its easy enough find info and compare between the other three. Would have been helpful if they explained this new service abit more. Seems a bit too closely aligned to the HBR0 -
Well, I would have thought that a professional association should be promoting the very best service that they could provide. For lots of properties, not new-builds obviously, a full structural would be better for the customer in the majority of circumstances than anything even remotely as useless as a valuation, never mind near one. I mean, who would want or need a survey that was less in-depth than a home-buyer's? It could just be me but I find the idea a bit worrying.0
