Buying a new washing machine

Hi,
Hoping someone can offer some pearls of wisdom here!
Our washing machine has died and we're looking to get a new one. Can anyone recommend a particular brand or place to buy from? The last machine we had was a re-conditioned model and lasted 18 months, which I suppose isn't awful for the price we paid, but we're looking for something that will last a good few years and are willing to pay a bit more this time - up to about £300.
We don't need it to be all singing all dancing though - I usually wash on the coolest setting, use the economy feature all the time. I run a hot wash maybe once a week/10days. We don't have hoards of kids yet, so it's only used a maximum of six times a week.
We really want to get good value for money this time, has anyone got any useful advice?
Many thanks,
Lois.

Our washing machine is on it's last legs, and when the man came round to fix it, he mentioned that if we're thinking of replacing it he wouldn't suggest anything other than Bosch for as many reasons as you could mention; price, build quality, and most importantly, reliability. Sorry it's not much, but I'll be following it when our one finally breaks down for good!0
