Clothes smelling of wet dog after washing and drying...

Just noticed that the latest washing liquid is non-bio - I remember deliberating and thought I chose bio but hey ho. Will get some bio next week and give that a go. OH has just worked out that he sometimes goes sailing in some of the stinky t-shirts. Festering-dog smell is common in sailing kit so that's probably the origin of the bugs. Just got to find the best way to get rid of them. If bio powder doesn't do it, I'll give the milton or zoflora options a try.
Thanks for the suggestions!0 -
in the meantime put your washingmachine on an empty boilwash-cycle, with some added vinegar and a lil bleach, it stinks but works!! that will shift the wet mutt smell ( which comes from soap deposit-leftover in the machine and hose that have gone off, especially when cold cycles and non bio are used a lot)

Another vote for zoflora - I love the smell of it on my washing.I believe in the freedom of spinach and the right to arm bears.

Someone else had this problem a few months ago. Check out the position of the hose on the washing machine - is it draining properly? What was causing their problem was that the washing machine didn't drain properly so dirty water built up in the machine, growing bugs and making everything smelly."Be the type of woman that when you get out of bed in the morning, the devil says 'Oh crap. She's up.'

Clean the filter on the washing machine. This is located at the bottom of the machine and sometimes behind the kickplate. Google the make and model to find where the filter is on your machine.
Put vinegar in all the compartments of the drawer and run on the highest temp' wash cycle.
Always leave the door of the machine open after use.
Washing the smelly cloths in vinegar should help remove the smell too.
Stop using fabric conditioner use vinegar in the final rinse.I'm not that way reclined
Jewelry? Seriously? Sheldon you are the most shallow, self-centered person I have ever met. Do you really think that another transparently-manipu... OH, IT'S A TIARA! A tiara; I have a tiara! Put it on me! Put it on me! Put it on me! Put it on me! Put it on me! Put it on me! Put it on me!0 -
I vote for puttng the offending articles in the freezer overnight inside a plastic bag. If you do that, then follow the washing tips above (esp the white vinegar), and line dry if you can, then you shouldn't have any more problems as the spores that cause the 'niff will be killed0

I always add a bit of bicarbonate of soda to the washing powder when I was the dog beds etc. - seems to help with the smell. We use non-bio but stock up on branded stuff when it's half price, mainly because OH can be allergic to some own-brand stuff but I do find it leaves less marks too.0

We have this problem from time to time, DH's running kit & DS2's football kit (he plays for 3 different teams, playing or training 5 nights a week) being the main offenders. I have to use non-bio most of the time as several family members have sensitive skin & come out in rashes at the drop of a hat. We have hard water so I do run a "cleansing" wash at least once a month, but what seems to work best (chemists feel free to shoot me down in flames here) is to do a pre-wash with a mixture of both laundry liquid and vinegar, then make sure I hang everything out as quickly as humanly possible when the wash is finished. If at all possible I wash their kit separately, but TBH it isn't something you want hanging around the house for long, so it usually just gets chucked in with whatever else needs washing!Angie - GC Aug25: £207.73/£550 : 2025 Fashion on the Ration Challenge: 26/68: (Money's just a substitute for time & talent...)0
