They have branch targets, the cashiers are briefed ,being able to say no is a life skill.Whilst I agree this type of marketing is irritating ,resist, because they are not interested in you ,just the target they need to achieve ,not really good customer service.
Halifax lead the field in this type of customer harassment.

The main problem is when they won't take "No" for an answer.

Exactly I just accept and then never turn up! (had 4 booked for me for every branch visit)

Had one booked for me today. I won't turn up!

    Regards,

    Ashley.

Now that sounds like a good plan!

They might take the hint then.

I had a client get some money out for an investment this week from his HBOS account and they grilled him and tried to get him to see their adviser. They must be getting desperate for end of year targets.

    Your next piece of advice will need to be;

"Under no circumstances go into HBOS and withdraw the money to pay for this investment. Write a cheque instead!"

One of my reasons for online banking is almost never having to go into the bank. :j
  • You can withdraw from marketing at counter - it would stop people asking you

One of the rare times I had to make a cash deposit to the front desk. (dodgy cash machine with the £200 button stuck down) Apparently there is a new machine in branch that negates the 3 days it will take the cash to clear from the ATM.

    Kind regards,

    Ashley.
  • Not every branch has this yet ashm1 - but the branches that do - you put all the money in at once and it counts and credits the account there and then. You can also credit cheque - the machine will not ask you abount your accounts

The financial advisers do help some people though after speaking to customers will large amounts in their bank account or poor savings account

I was in HBOS branch one day, in Glasgow, I was putting money into a savings acc I have with them, guy at the counter said "oh you need to see an adviser, you REALLY need a review" I said it was okay I didnt and he was like "but I can save you money!!" he was very adamant about it, I said " Martin Lewis saves me money not HBOS!!!" I left him with a bemused look on his face and he was still going on and on when I was leaving the branch, they really must be desperate, before Halifax merged with BOS they where never like this.

So how do I go about doing this?

As my money is all in web savers and an ISA, you would think they wouldn't hassle me. When I said politely, "No thanks, I have an adviser already." the girl at the counter said, "I'm surprised to hear this looking at your account."

I'm afraid I found that rather cheeky considering she didn't know anything about me or my circumstances.
