They look great - i might have to have a trek down tonight :D.

You can always fill the bottom with scrunched up paper, then over lay with tissue paper (thats what i did)

Can someone tell me where they are getting their fab baskets from? All I have found is in ikea at £1.50 each, but not sure if it might be a bit high

    http://www.ikea.com/gb/en/catalog/products/10087738

I bought my lined ones from a Tesco Superstore/Extra. They came in two sizes, one inside the other for about £3.50. HTH

I have all my baskets now but not everything to put in them! I must finish my shoe boxes off first and then I'll be on the off! lol
  • Gonna give the hampers a go this year. Best thing about them is that you can fill them with things people really want/use unlike shop bought ones which are really expensive and half full of things that will never get used.

Next year i am gonna start shopping for things earlier in the year so that i'm not hunting about in oct/nov for bits and bobs. Thanks for all the ideas.

I totally agree. My MIL likes bath stuff thats not too fussy, so I'm going put some of the radox daily elements range in plus other things in same colour scheme (pinched from the fab blue one on previous page!) Would look boring wrapping radox up in paper but put it in a basket with trimmings and...ta da!!

Right, I've been looking at chocolate hampers from places lile Green & Black and Hotel Chocolat (my most favourite shop in the whole wide world), and I've decided that they are just too expensive.....
    SO......
I'm going to bite the bullet and have a go at doing one myself....

I have a rough idea of what I'd like to put in it, so no problem there, but I need some idea from all you expereianced 'hamperers' on where to buy a box/basket...

I would like to find something that can be wrapped properly (by that i mean completely wrapped in xmas paper like a normal present cos it needs to go under the tree (so cellophane is no good)). So it needs to be something with a lid. Something that looks 'chocolately' would be good too - perhaps brown? or fake leather?? Or maybe a round box????
i really don't know where to start.......

Also, how do you get the stuff in the box to stay in place (not move about and end up looking like it's just been thrown in??

    ANY help would be appreciated.

Mrs7ones - try using shredded paper in your hamper as that is purported to stop things moving about (this is a tip that I got from a magazine).

You can currently buy gift boxes cheaply from Lidl but I would also look in pound shops and Home Bargains.

Ideas for a chocolate hamper: A mug, some sachets of hot chocolate, some chocolate bars, a chocolate brown fleecy blanket (well, you have to snuggle with a mug of hot chocolate).

    Have fun.

    Hi
Matalan have some nice boxes in at the moment. Red really stiff cardboard with a lid. Would make a nice chocolate box.

Also Tesco have a nice leather tray that would look good. Not really a box though so not much help. You could always wrap in paper AND cellophane so you can't see through it.

I am making historical cosmetics for my female family members.

I am medieval re enactor and my special 'thing' is medieval beauty & make up. I am making baskets of

    Roman cold cream
    medieval lip balm
    Stuart perfume
    Georgian hair serum
    Medieval soap

I started in October as the soap has to be left for 8 weeks before it can be used. Each soap has different oils / plants in it depending on the skin type.

Its a good way of using my knowledge to make special gifts and it helps me keep my hand in!
Smile. Its the second best thing you can do with your lips....
