    Hi again folks,

Great to see all the pics of the baskets, like many lurkers here "I'm loving it". Well done to you all.

Rusty - I'm so pleased your hampers are taking off and wish you all the best in your business venture.

Now for those of you who don't know, Tesco is doing their big tins of sweets which you only really see at Christmas time for £7.99 but they are BOGOF until the 9th September, so it might be worth a trip for those of you making sweetie hampers.

Asda were doing the small bags of Haribo which are normally around £1ish for 50p.

Morrisons are doing some lovely lined baskets, rectangular in shape and a pack of 3 in varing sizes which fit inside each other for £4.99. They are gorgeous.

Also in Morrisons, is linen baskets with a lid from £2.99. This size is about the size of a bedroom / livingroom bin and made from wicker. They go right up to laundry basket size which was about £6.99. I thought this was pretty good as they would do male or female.

Finally, did I see someone making a chinese hamper for someone and looking for chopsticks? If so I've got a packet maybe even 2 of new chopsticks in my kitchen drawer which I know I won't use and your welcome to them. I'll just stick them in the post.

    Bye for now.

Thank you so much for the chopsticks offer but I found some in Ikea - 99p for 6 pairs and they are very nice. Think I may take them out of the boring packaging and tie them in a bundle with ribbon. Thanks again for your generous offer, it never ceases to amaze me how lovely people are on this board :)

Awww bless him, glad he had a lovely time. Did you cry? My little one goes back on Tuesday, year 1 this year though so he feels a proper big boy now as he is not in reception lol.

I need some help guys. I want to wrap up the chalkboard boxes which I made last week 9or was it week before?) Anyway I cannot find any chalk locally! I have looked in WHSmiths, Wilkos, home bargains, Pouldland, woolies and loads of other places. (can it really be this hard?) Can anyone give me any other suggestions to try? I only need 1 piece of chalk and only need to write 2 names on a box! At this rate I can see me asking my sons new teacher if I can borrow a piece of chalk for the night just to finish them off and wrap them!!!

Thats a lovely idea Rainmac. Do we have any pics of the chinese basket in progress? You could use some straw or a long piece of the grass type stuff to tie around the chopsticks?

Ok ok I am going back to make another nappy cake... I get so carried away on this thread and I *NEED* to make another basket! :o Just thinking who I can make one for and what I have in the house ready for it ;)

    Hi Rusty!

Do you have a stationery box near you? I would be surprised if they didn't sell chalk.

Could you go to a pub where they play darts (and use a chalk socre board) and pick up the tiny little bits they leave, or just whip out to the car, write the names and put it back?

Or are there any sports pitches near you where they may use a chalk board?

Or how about asking at ds's school? Or a playgroup/nursery if you know anyone who has children in one?

Ah, can see you've thought of the school idea - I'd go wth that tbh.
  • The only problem I can see with asking a school is that nowdays most schools don't use chalkboards. Instead they use white boards and those electronic things.

Rusty, have you considered chalk pens? Most restaurants use them to write their specials boards etc rather than bogstandard chalk. We have them at work- if you pm me your address I can send you one if you like to save you buying a packet.
