Real shame this although not a surprise. I used to go in there for a browse from time to time but I don't ever remember buying anything and I rarely saw anyone else buying anything there either. Their problem was you could get pretty much anything they sold cheaper elsewhere in town.
The Original Factory Shop have been acquiring former Woolies premises in North Wales, they've just opened in the old Woolies in Caernarfon, so maybe they'll be interested. Otherwise I can see it remaining empty for a long time. The fridge is empty, the walls are damp, there's no hot water

mostyn estate's got it wrong and changed the locks, on the first day, then the lock smith that changed them was unable to get out the next day to set it right, it turns out the they owed alworths (llandudno) £20k and the rent for that place is only £5k, but it will be going, heard it will be about 4-6 weeks (although im not sure they have enough stock there to last that long, as what you see is what they have left)0

The one in Hertford only opened a few months ago, but there's only a 70% off sale, no closing down signs. They better not close down, there's nothing else around there apart from restaurants!! lol The stuff that was 70% was mostly xmas stuff left overs as far as i could seeMan who run into airport turn-styles is going to Bangkok

The problem with these stores (opened by ex management of Woolworths - one opened in Warrington) is that the people running them have been brought up on the same retail mentality which caused Woolworths to fail in the first place. Somebody once said a good business can tell you exactly what it does in one sentence..... "selling lots of difference stuff dearer than all the specialist competition" doesnt work though.0

I've heard that the Llandudno branch is one of three that are to be closed by Alworths. It seems a bit strange that they should open a branch in a holiday resort right at the end of the summer season and then close it down right before the start of the next season, I suspect they would have done ok over the summer when the tourists arrive. There is a certain novelty value to the store which I'm sure has now worn off for the locals but in a way it could have been a sort of tourist attraction for visitors.
Anyway, the Llandudno branch is now reopen but the shelves are beginning to empty. All the CDs, DVDs and computer games have vanished, presumably redeployed to a store that isn't closing (yet) although there were a few items behind the counter on Saturday including an Xbox 360 and a Wii both of which were 20% off (although I can't remember the prices and I wouldn't know if they were bargains or not). Everything else was between 10-50% off as last week, no 70% reductions yet for us!The fridge is empty, the walls are damp, there's no hot water
