Java update/jucheck.exe

For a few weeks now the UAC box has been coming up on my computer saying that jucheck.exe wants to update Java. I ignored this for a while, not knowing it was so important (I'm not computer savvy!) but now know it's a security risk to not update it. I've also read that there was a fake java going around and it's now made me worry about where to get the real update from.

What I did before was decline the automatic java update and get the offline version from the java website but it was a while ago and I can't remember how I did that. Does anyone have a link to the real java site? I did search Google but I don't know which is the official site and didn't want to risk downloading something fake.

Thank you. I've just installed it now. It's added an add-on to Firefox called Java console. Is that normal?

Thank you. Just one more thing and then I think everything is updated! I just updated Firefox to 3.6.15 and now a screen has come up saying I should update Adobe Flash Player and a link to download it. Is that genuine? I just want to be careful with what I'm downloading because I've noticed a lot of virus and other scams around recently.

Thank you I've just installed the flash player now. I noticed it was the one for other browsers, so does it mean I need to install it again for IE? I think IE is still set as my default browser but I haven't used it since I switched to Firefox.

yep/ for me it's a per browser download -- each separate for ie, Opera, FF, etc. Although I don't use ie //

Ok, I've just downloaded and installed the flash player for IE, just in case it gets used again. I think that's everything updated now. I'll bookmark the links to Java and Flash player now, so I'll know where to find them next time it needs an update. Thank you for your help.
