I have been sent a letter for Voluntary Redundancy.
They sent it the day after they heard my results from the hospital, which was bad news, i have been having mini strokes, i have been ill for 6 months and have been having time off, i am not well whatsoever, and really do not need the stress.
The bottom of the letter it says.
The Exec asks that you do not discuss XXXXXX's general financial situation with people outside the organization.
Can someone please tell me who i can talk too, because i do not feel i can talk to anyone that works there.
I was given yesterday off, because of the bad news i received.

I would assume that everyone else (at least in your grade) in the firm has been sent one too??
The only way you will find out is to ask other people in the firm I'm afraid.0 -
Do you have an Employee Assistance Scheme? Alternatively you could speak to your GP or a counsellor, as these have a duty of confidentiality towards you and no interest in the company.Gone ... or have I?0

That doesn't mean you can't ask for advice about your situation in relation to this letter.
See if you can speak with someone in the CAB or ACAS.0 -
I am the only one being made redundant, on Monday 28th Feb, someone that works for one of the trustees came into our office and said,
I bet your both pleased that XXXXX have secured one year funding for your jobs?
There are only two paid staff, myself and my boss.
There is no one else in the firm to ask, as the boss is still in employment.
There is no one to talk too, they do not have a "Employee Assistance Scheme" or anyone else.
Thank you i shall speak with CAB, i think they got the information from ACAS.0 -
They are more worried about gossip to clients/it being in the relevant press. This is to do with loss of confidence in the company possibly leading to it being under more pressure.
If you need help with the stress, speak to your GP, a counsellor, lawyer, accountant and/or CAB as well as your partner. You can presumably also speak to colleagues, but this is a time when office politics can rise up viscously, so whether or not you do is up to you and depends on your office environment.

Thank you all for your advice, i shall make an appointment with CAB.0

I believe you have a statutory right to seek legal advice/help and they cant remove that from you. I dont think your employers meant this though, just that they dont want it damaging their firm.
As for them consulting ACAS, my own employers did this and still royally screwed it up. Apparently (according to ACAS) some employers try to get everything "right" and end up further complicating matters and get it wrong. You keep using that word.
