anyone used buggy connectors?

can they be used with maclaren buggies? it seems that the holes are designed for round tube frames, but the maclarens have a square rear metal frame. has anyone tried them, and will they still work if all 3 connectors only used on the front of the frame, and none on the back?

A friend of mine works in a nursery and they tried these but said they kept coming apart making it usnsafe if a buggy got loose half way down a hill and went for double pushchairs instead.One day I might be more organised...........
