If you want to take pictures on holiday in a sunny climate - make sure it has a viewfinder. Screens are a PITA when it is sunny. DGMember #8 of the SKI-ers Club

The Panasonics use Leica lenses - a highly-regarded maker, and this is a good starting point.
I've been using one of their compacts for a few years now, and I'm very impressed and pleased.

Well.. more like they've licensed the Leica name and had their lenses approved. Also, not all of them in the lower end models used the 'leica' lense.. a lot of them just say Lumix0
