    If you want to take pictures on holiday in a sunny climate - make sure it has a viewfinder. Screens are a PITA when it is sunny. DG

    That is very true but I be you can't find a digital camera under £100 with an optical viewfinder.

    The Panasonics use Leica lenses - a highly-regarded maker, and this is a good starting point.

    I've been using one of their compacts for a few years now, and I'm very impressed and pleased.

    A good condition used Pana may serve you well.

    Well.. more like they've licensed the Leica name and had their lenses approved. Also, not all of them in the lower end models used the 'leica' lense.. a lot of them just say Lumix
