Benefits whilst on remand in prison?

Innocent until proven.........
Oh, not you too? Didn't you get it the first time?
Innocent people don't go to prison for no apparent reason-it's so the cops can gather the evidence they think they can get (and usually need) to put someone away for a lot longer. Do you really think 'remand' means innocent ? My dictionary says 'to send back into custody'.
I know what they say, but they say a lot of sh*te, and you shouldn't believe it anymore.
Use your common sense everyone, and think for yourself from now on, cause you're gonna need to.more dollar$ than sense0 -
They go to prison because they are suspected only - not convicted. Any innocent individual could be suspected until it is proven otherwise.
If by any chance I was arrested on suspicion and it was a case of mistaken identity but the Police/CPS didn't believe me, would I deserve to go to prision on remand if it was thought that I might attempt to interfere with winesses?
8 months later it was then found that it WAS a case of mistaken identity, would you say that being in prison for that length of time made me a criminal?
'Suspicion' and 'didn't believe' to me means they suspect the person is 'not innocent'.
If the CPSs' only resort is to lock you away because they can't make sure that you don't interfere with witnesses or not, then your rights and freedoms are well and truely gone before you even start the game. To find that you were innocent (and who are these people that come to this conclusion that you are guilty or innocent anyway) would not suprise me as I would never have though you guilty.....unless I did. And that's what I mean. They're saying that they're saying you're innocent until proven guilty, but they don't believe that as they don't lock away innocent people.more dollar$ than sense0 -
I was in prison on remand for 3 months and i was receiving IB and DLA before i went into prison but my benefits were suspended untill the outcome of my trial.I got all of my benefits back, less 2 weeks bc i wasn't convicted of a crime. This answers your suspicions dosen't it,Taxi
There's a person who works for the DWP who takes all down your details on the 1st day you go into prison then informs it the DWP.
HB and CT are the only benefits you can get whilst in prison but you have to reapply for these benefits whilst your in prison.
You do have access to landline phones (Mobiles as well, smuggled in) in prison which you can use if you have money in your prison account. You use these phones via a pin number that the prison service allocates to each individual prisoner and that prisoner is the only person who can use that pin.
