Thanks again for all the replies :)

I like the sound of the Inecto Hint of a tint.

Next question then - as a medium brunette trying to disguise grey, am I best to go for a brown shade (to match my natural as much as poss) or a blonde shade (to create a highlighting effect with the grey hairs - or will this turn my brown hair orange or something??)

    Harmony is still available.

Hint of Tint was different, that was made by Inecto and came in sachets. You can still buy that too!

My hair was always too dark for it to make any difference to! **sighs**

ailuro2, think you hit the nail right on the head with your post!
Putting myself firmly in category 2 at the moment. Pah!

I must have the wrong name as I recognise the harmony but not the hint of a tint sachets.

Neither of those would be strong enough to cover my grey/white roots, though which is why I use a permanent.

There is a range of grey hair colours that evens out the grey and can give it a kind of opalescent sheen my mil uses this and its lovely, also you would have to change your make up and reassess your wardrobe - best of luck:)

Do you know what this is? I use a silver enhancing shampoo but don't find it makes the slightest bit of difference

I too have darkish brown but rapidly greying hair and don't want to dye it. I've been using Vitale Tones Coloured Styling Mousse in Light Golden Blonde which I bought from Ebay.

It is supposes to last for five washes but I don't think it lasts that long. It turns the grey bits blonde so it looks more like highlights (well I like to think). I also have the Pearl Beige colour and that is a bit more subtle and less 'brassy'.

I don't use it all the time, just when I don't want to look so grey. I don't think it improves the condition of your hair but it shouldn't be harsher than semi or permanent colours.

I think they have a Light Brown colour which I will try next.

If you do use this, please do let me know what you think because I scoured the net for reviews and couldn't find any!

I just asked her and she said it was a Clairol hair colour but the whole range has been discontinued:eek: which would explain why shes now blonde:rotfl:
Thank you for this site Martin

I think it is the dye itself on grey hair that causes the darkening. Haven't dyed mine for ages (so mostly salt with some pepper) & used a "lightest ash brown" & got dark brown. Previously used Dark ash blonde with similar dark results. A hairdresser did say to stick to ash based shades to avoid the orange effect.

Glad you're still getting away with it - I'm 41 and tell myself I'm doing well because I only have a few white hairs coming through, my mother's hair was very light silver at the front when she was 40yo:D.

Mine started going noticeably in my late 30's, started using a permanent colour when I was 40, am 53 now and have pretty much gone completely white/grey .

Not that you'd ever know ;)

I'm afraid that site GGLG has just convinced me that there is no way I'm going to stop colouring my hair in the forseeable future! Yes a few do look better ( mostly those with poor dye jobs) but the overall effect is just depresses me.
