I believe F Secure is supposed to be pretty good
I would certainly advise against using AVG
personally id suggest AVAST or AVIRA free (from filehippo):idea:0 -
along with MAlwarebytes as a secondary scanner (also from filehippo

Can't go wrong with F-Secure, has performed quite well in the Antivirus Comparatives tests, and also their free bootable antivirus is no-nonsense and works well.
If not, Avast or Avira free are both good. I wouldn't use AVG, going from it's performance at the above site.
Other than that, you'd want to install and update Spybot: Search and Destroy, and run the Immunisations. Also, Malwarebytes Antimalware for routine scans - great piece of software.0 -
