Why don't you drive around the roads in South Ruislip that you're interested in and see whether the properties are well cared for or run down? You'll quickly get an idea of the kinds of residents living there. I always avoid roads with the tell-tale signs of squatters, students and the workshy on every benefit going.

From what I've heard most "professional" squatters either target large, luxurious empty properties in places like Hampstead and Highgate where the amateur, mostly foreign ones favour North and East London.

It's not a particularly widespread problem in London unless you read the Daily Mail.
