re#7 !!!!!! - I've just been reading your posts in the iMac thread, and having looked at your post history, almost every single post you make involved Apple. Are you employed by Microsoft or something? I've never seen somebody so obsessed with them - creepy.

Not creepy at all - see below

Windows isn't "the peoples choice" its what people get because they don't have a choice.

My advice, read up on linux, as you have the choice and install one, Mint, PCLinuxOS, Ubuntu, or Puppy (for real old hardware), it'll cost you nothing, literally. If its not for you put your tail in between you legs and spend a lot of money on re-joining the sheep on their inferior OS.;)
Peel back your baby's eyelid to find no nationality or religious identity mark there. Peer at your baby's eyes for them to reflect back just people-throw away your flags and religious symbols...

I was curious if you had also checked his rubbish bin and looked him up on facebook, etc for further clues?

You're living in the shadow of Chernobyl...

For phones & cameras, I write to a memory stick, and then I take it out and put it into a reader for the computer.

In my case (and wife) have an android phone (T-Mobile) and they use a standard micro sd card permanently fitted into a slot. We can either connect the PC to the phone using a standard [USB - to - micro USB] cable (which also charges the phone at the same time, like from the PC USB), or we can take the micro SD card out of the phone slot and use it in a standard PC card reader.

The reason we bought these phones was because they were Android, and I am a fan. However, the advantages seem to also include openness and open standards, including the ability to remove the internal memory (micro SD ), and to use a non specific cable (that is, non proprietary).

The British Computer Society hosted a meeting recently, because the Government Cabinet Office were asking exactly WHY more people were not using Open Standards. Proprietary, closed (software and hardware) standards cost money, us and them (our money).

If you see a non Open Standard, 'Just say NO'?

I don't think prowla was talking about a USB stick, rather a micro SD card (or similar) & an adapter

The problem you have results from the widespread use, and until now, acceptance, of products which do not use open standards in all sorts of ways. Product specific cables are not consumer (customer) friendly. They are a means to make you increase your investment in a product, increasing your isolation from an open market. It may not solve your problem today, but it can lead to you avoiding the problem in future purchases by being aware perhaps.
