Joint savings account for friends

Hi
Could anyone advise if you know of a joint savings account that -
  • can be opened up with a friend not a partner or husband
  • you dont have to both have a current account with that organisation
  • has internet access for each person to their individual accounts
  • allocates a card to each saver
I think what I am hoping for does not exist but if anyone knows of a company that does all this I would appreciate the info.

Thanks

What do you mean by individual accounts? Two accounts within the same joint savings account?

I think they mean individual internet account, to access the joint account.

    Advice is don't fo it.

Creating a financial link when you don't need one can cause more problems than it solves.

    1. I don't think the banks and things are particularly interested in the relationship between the two parties opening a joint account. On the application forms, the account holders are assumed to have different addresses, etc.
    2. Building societies and supermarkets don't offer current accounts, so there's no requirement to have a current account to have a savings account.
    3. My partner and I have quite a few joint accounts, and they all provide separate logins to access the joint account. (ie separate usernames and passwords).

I don't know about cards - do you mean debit cards, or ATM cards, or something else. I think this card is the only thing you're going to have to actually research.

Ah - the MSE article on savings accounts at
    http://www.moneysavingexpert.com/savings/savings-accounts-best-interest
lists some savings accounts offering ATM cards. So you could try those. I think I once had an Abbey / Santander savings account with an ATM card, but looking on the site now, the one they offer has a poor rate.
