Council tax free months..

I remember reading a while ago that at some point in the new year we get 2 months 'off' our council tax so we don't have to pay... was I imagining this and if not does anyone know which months it is? Having £99 spare for 2 months would come in very handy.

It's either Jan and Feb, or Feb and March, can't remember which. The ability of skinny old ladies to carry huge loads is phenomenal. An ant can carry one hundred times its own weight, but there is no known limit to the lifting power of the average tiny eighty-year-old Spanish peasant grandmother.0

I think (and someone will correct me if I'm wrong) that it depends on which council you pay the tax to. My experience, though, is that Dudley, Sandwell and Leeds City Councils charge over a ten month period.
If I were you I would check your council tax statement that you should have got in April '06.
(BTW I'm not 100% sure about the Leeds one, as it wasn't me who paid it.)0 -

Birmingham city council are over 10 month period too, but what they allow you to do if you want it to spread it out over 12 months so that it lowers your payments each month, which is what I do.:p0 -
Broxtowe Council (part of Nottingham) also collect it over 10 months, with no payments collected in Feb and Mar.
I'll be getting a Council Tax rebate of £138 when I move house on 8 Dec, as these are in effect the overpayments made so far this year up to 8th Dec.
We're moving into rented temporarily until we find a house we like in the new year, and the rent includes the council tax.0 -
I was told by my council its feb & march.
as we are moving before then, we were told by the CTax office to let them know asap and they would send me a cheque for the difference as we wont be here in feb & march. Well aint funny how its the little things in life that mean the most? Not where you live, the car you drive or the price tag on your clothes.
Theres no dollar sign on piece of mind
This Ive come to know...
So if you agree have a drink with me, raise your glasses for a toast :beer:0
