Bank of Scotland poor personal details security

Since we moved into our new house 18 months ago we have been getting mail for the previous tenant. For the first year we returned it "no longer at address" but still get a few letters a week. We started binning them now as we are fed up getting his mail.

However I noticed a lot of them are from the same company so opened them to see who it is. They are from the Bank of Scotland, about 1 letter a week so returned one with "no longer at address. Update details Please" in large letters but we still get them. This is ridiculous, we must have returned about 50 of them and they still send his mail to this address. I remember when I was a student my bank account with RBS got put on hold because my parents forwarded some of my mail onto my student halls!

I am tempted to go and complain to them but I know it is illegal to open other peoples mail so could get myself it trouble.

So really just a warning to anyone using Bank of Scotland, why you wouldnt update your new address with your bank tho I have no idea, other than it appears he is in alot of debt, the letters I opened were about bounced cheques and fees for missed payments....

Take one of the letters into a branch and tell them how many you've had.

I had the same problem with Natwest a couple of years ago, it went on and on with me sending them back; as soon as I took one into a branch and complained the letters stopped coming.
