Tesco /Tv/DVD player not working over the 1 year warrenty -Help

Hi,
I bought a Tesco TV/DVD player it is a Technica ( tescos own make ) It was purchased Nov 2009 for xmas .The DVD player just does not read discs anymore so wont play any DVD's . Tesco say their stuff has a 1 Year warrenty . However I read an article where you can still return things under the consumer credit act if they wont work within two years ?? There is no damage etc to the TV DVD its just ceased working .I still have the reciept .Any help appreciated on what to do .

you may have to get a report to prove it is an inherent fault before tescos would take any action

OP, what have Tesco said?

Before you spend any money on a report, ask Tesco first.

Also, have a read of the MSE Consumer Rights article (if you haven't already).

Have you tried a laser lens 'cleaner'?

Hi Ironically the LG dvd player has now ceased working ! OMG .
We have cleaned with a lens cleaner ( disc) .Both bought from different shops at Christmas last year . Both had a 12 month warrenty .Surely goods are expected to last more than 12 month - they have not been well used either .
