charged for booking I didn't make - what to do

I shall be speaking to my bank tomorrow but I wondered if anyone had any advice on the best course of action to take.
I attempted to make a booking last night with Holiday Extras for a one night hotel stay and a weeks parking through Thompson with arrival on 14th March. I got as far as the payment screen and filled in my details but upon clicking the make payment button I received a page of junk, the top of which said server error.
Today I have received an email saying I have made a booking for March 3 - March 11. I did not at any point enter these days or authorise payment for this booking. Upon receiving the email I telephoned customer services who, despite me explaining that I hadn't made such a booking refused to refund the payment I understand has been charged to my credit card. Surely they can't take a payment for a booking that I never made?

Learn from the mistakes of others - you won't live long enough to make them all yourself.

Did you search those dates at all? - cookies can do funny things with travel sites dates.
Contact the company first - see what they have to say and what they will do - only after this,if they give you the brush off do you get in touch with the bank.0
