ICESAVE - opening procedure

Well, we've had no problems with ICICI but am still waiting for user id etc from ICESAVE.
I supplied passport and driving licence details, have lived in the same house for 30 years but had to send in id. They have returned this and said wait for welcome pack in 10 days. It will be 4 weeks in total before I can open this account - and I found them very unhelpful on the phone.
I am going to stick with ICICI0 -
Well, I did call them up and spoke to a very charming lady. Apparently, for some unknown reason they couldn't verify my address (goodness knows why, I've lived there for forty years next month). I mentioned that I'd sent a cheque along with the other information and, since their computer couldn't verify this, I had to look up my A+L account and was able to tell them that the cheque had cleared my account that day so it should have been registering with ICEsave. Profuse apologies and promise to nudge the system along.
I did get a letter yesterday, returning my documents and saying I will get my 'pack' v.soon.
Why is it always so difficult with bank accounts - I'm still having problems with the A+L I set up about 6 weeks ago. Perhaps it's just me.0 -
It seems that their security check is not good at all.
I read of people not putting any personal details (i.e. no passport or driving licence) and ending up with immediate opening of the account.
Others -like me- put in all the details and were asked for full verification of identity and address (which is odd given the previous checks). So I think there is clearly something strange there.
The rest of the ICESAVE procedure seems just slow. I have received my documents back after 10 days, then the welcome pack after another 5 and am waiting now the userid. It will be about 20 days for me from initial form filling to having the account running, which is clearly too much.
They need to improve on it!0
