Bank charges - benefits

Morning

Halifax are in the process of taking out 5 separate charges at the end of this week. I am worried sick because the day they are gonna take these out I only have my benefits. Can they still do this ?? Means I won't have any monies at all. Rang on saturday and said they would get back to me. Rang 9.00am today and they said to contact the customer relations department which am gonna do within the hour. Got a feeling there answer will be "It's your fault and there's nothing we can do". 2 of the transactions where on the debit card , one for £1.49 and the other for £5.98. I always thought when you try to use your card and there aren't enough funds in the account then the card should be declinded just like a credit card.

Any advice would be great before I contact them again.

Many thanks

Have a look at the stickys about how to reclaim bank charges. There is a raft of information on how to do so, take a look also at https://www.bankactiongroup.com. I fully appreciate you are probably feeling pretty dispondant about all of this, but these charges are unlawful, and many, including myself have had them refunded. I had £1331.50 in respect of six years charges refunded, so please do get on the case.

If these are the first charges you have incurred and you explain your situation, they may waive/refund them immediately. Try contacting them again.

If not, the charges will come out of your account and you will need to start the process of reclaiming them.

All the information you need is in the stickys.
