Don't believe everything that you read !
Clean the windscreen and the mirror mounting plate very thoroughly.
Get a "proper" adhesive pad. Before using it, warm both surfaces with a hair dryer - stick together. Fixed - literally !0 -

Hi, my interior mirror has fallen off.
I have tried super glue etc. and the reviews for 'pads' don't seem very favourable! I bought a suction pad replacement but that's broken now:o
Any suggestions for a more permanent fix?
Thanks;)
If you really want permanent then drill a hole through the windscreen and bolt the b****y thing in place...:rotfl:
Seriously though, just do as moonrakerz advises. It does work.
You must have a local car accessory shop/Halfords. Just ask for a pack of mirror adhesive pads.0 -
read the same query on another forum. gorilla glue is recommended.0

I'm sure I have seen glue specificly for this job in motor spares shops before.0

I've tried the pads -- there seem to be two types.
The spongy ones that you get for about 50p are to be avoided. They don't last long and the mirror tends to wobble around.
Then you can get ones which are essentially a superglue-like adhesive with a fibre mesh onto which either side adheres to. I'm not sure how these work as I'd have thought that cyanoacrylate (sp?) requires a vacuum to set properly, but there you go. These do seem to work, but there's a knack to getting it right.
I ended up using epoxy glue (aka Araldite). This is not recommended apparantly as you run the risk of cracking the windscreen but it's worked without issue on three separate occasions for me.0 -
Please, please let me know if you find something that works. Our car has a rain sensor for the automatic windscreen wipers which is a square plastic box at the top of the windscreen. The plate attached to the mirror is designed to cover this and is large and heavy.
We have spent a fortune on different types of glue, sticky pads, even superglue (which chipped the windscreen when the mirror fell off again). I have been driving the car for about 6 months without a rear view mirror because nothing works.
Last time OH spent half an hour cleaning and preparing the area before he tried to stick it on so you can imagine the choice words he was using when it fell off again after 3 days.0 -
As I say, Araldite *does* work. Possibly sledgehammers and nuts spring to mind, but it does work.0

Get the sticky pads meant for EXTERNAL mirrors. If it comes off, go to a company that makes signs and ask if you can blag a couple of inches of the double sided tape they use to fix signs. Wife uses that stuff and you'd remove the windscreen before the mirror came off :eek:0
