Thinking of buying this laptop/netbook from Costco. It is £336 there. Amazon are selling it for £399.

http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B004GXALBU/ref=s9_simh_gw_p147_d6_i1?pf_rd_m=A3P5ROKL5A1OLE&pf_rd_s=center-5&pf_rd_r=0TE022N9TZAR7PXPAET6&pf_rd_t=101&pf_rd_p=467128293&pf_rd_i=468294

It seems to have a very large hard drive and memory for a netbook - any thoughts?

Quite expensive for a netbook, but it's more of an ultraportable really. You'll only really use 2gb at any time using the most common programs, but it's still good to have 4gb. I wouldn't base a decision on the hard drive size.

Another option more towards 12" netbooks is £249, Dell Inspiron 11z:

Processor is slower than the Acer but faster than Atom netbooks, screens are similar (probably Dell has a better quality screen), memory is plenty for a netbook, battery life is 5hrs. 1080p video capable

    Or Lenovo IdeaPad12:

Normal netbook Atom processor, slightly lower res screen (fits 720p HD), but much better video graphics and easily 1080p capable. Probably the Dell is better value.

    Lenovo Ideapad U450, 14" £260

Very nearly as fast as the Acer Aspire One 753

    Lenovo Ideapad U350, 13.3" £299 (good deal)

Again just about as fast as the Acer, slightly bigger screen, 8hrs battery life. Smaller hard drive, and 2gb memory

Thanks for the replies - I will check out all these machines.

I need a powerful and small netbook as it will be used for business when visiting clients and will have quite a few different programmes loaded. Weight is one of the most important factors - my current laptop is very heavy.
