We've Exchanged!

I know most of you don't care - but I'm so excited! After 18 odd months on market, God knows how many estate agents, at least 3 surveys on houses we'll never own, dropping nearly £100k off the asking price, and a lot of stress - today we have exchanged contracts and next Friday will get rid of our falling down old house for a nice shiny new build (I know some of you have your own opinions of new builds - but you can't burst my bubble!).

And we will never buy and sell again. If we ever have to sell again (and it won't be for long time - if ever) we are moving into rented after exchange and then we'll start looking.

Ok... rant over! I'm off to drink some champagne. :D:D:D

Oh God, I can't imagine/remember how that feels... ours has been dragging on forever. Offered on a few and lost a couple along the way and we're probably up to around a year on mine (plus hubby's took a year to sell before and alongside selling mine so we're probably around 18 months too.

Feel ecstatic for anyone exchanging at the moment in the hope that it'll be me saying that soon!

Honestly, we've got so much else on our plates at the moment, I really can't believe something good will ever happen...

    Well done!

I have to say, we've felt pretty low at times too - especially when someone pulled out 10 minutes before exchange in a long chain, and we'd spent about £1600 to get to that point, and it was all gone (well, our honeymoon was) so we've tried to not get excited at all, and at all stages expected the whole thing to fail.

Thank you for the congratulations messages! x

That's brilliant! I sold my own falling down old house lasy year and moved into a 2 year old property, and I won't be moving again either! Having never owned a house less than 100 years old before, I must say it is a real treat not to be worrying about what will need to be fixed next! I hope you enjoy your "new" place as much as I'm enjoying mine

Congratulations. You must be thrilled to bits. It's given me hope that one day- please- one day soon- I'll find a buyer whose own buyer doesn't pull out 10 mins after signing contract and giving solicitor cheque for deposit [but before all the contracts were exchanged] then rings him to tell him not to bank it as they were pulling out or buyer no 2 who dropped down dead just before exchange.

So far I've spent nearly £3000 on surveys, tree surgeon reports and solicitors fees, and I'm no further forward than I was 8 months ago.

But hey ho, two viewings this week, both asked for second viewings over the weekend and the sun's out!

    Enjoy your champagne.

Sounds frustrating for you. But at least you're better off than buyer number 2. Nothing could be worse than that.

I care!! I remember how ecstatic I was when I exchanged last November after a very fraught sale and purchase, I ended up buying one of my buyers house ( a couple who each had a house to sell) as a BTL as his sale fell through after months of waiting. Pleased your completion is close too, ours was 6 weeks after exchange due to someone taking a holiday!! Enjoy your your new home and good luck for the future.
