People with the attitude you have of "I know it doesn't work because bla bla bla" really wind me up
There are literally hundreds of folk on this site in the gambling section and I tell you it IS possible to make money from nothing following the simple rules that those guys provide. No one tells you that you SHOULD do it, more of a "this is how we do it feel free to have a go". The people over there that help new people get started use their own time to help us make sure we are doing it correctly and point out errors if one arises from someone, and whats more no one said it was a "get rich quick scheme" either. Maybe if you opened that pig ignorant mind of yours and had a look at the threads you wouldn't be so quick to dismiss someones genuine advice on the subject that you know NOTHING about.

    Im only trying to help.
There are no formulaic ways of making money.

In the match betting thread people use terms like 'you cant loose' - THIS IS A FUNDAMENTAL MISTAKE.

It always seems the more financialy vulnerable the person the more these schemes appeal to them.
  • No Conrad, your wrong, if you do things correctly you really can't lose. Please before posting another comment go and read this thread.

This isn't some get rich quick scheme, its simply signing up for lots of different online book-makers, and taking advantage of their special offers for new customers.

As long as you are carefull, follow the rules, take it one step at a time, and have a float about £100 to get you started, you will see that £100 turn into £200-£300 in a very short time, its going beyond that first £200-300 where things can get a bit more difficult. If you don't want to do it then thats your choice, but please stop trying to pas this of as some scheme, where someone sitting at the top is getting rich, cos thats not what its about.

Conrad, come down to the forum, start a thread, I challenge you to ask every question that you have and express every doubt that you have and I promise you will be given all the information you need in order to see that its simply risk free money. My brother had the same attitude as you (he is an economics teacher  ) after a while the penny dropped as it always does. So come and ask as many questions as you can, then come back up here and see if you feel the same way and post in this thread?

I think the matched betting thing is pretty much a formulaic method of making money, isn't it? Well it worked for me, once I understood the formula!

Like others say, it's not a get rich quick thing but you really can make a few hundred quid quite easily.

It's not a method of picking winners or studying form, like many betting scams. It's just a method by which you can turn free bets from the bookies, into cash for your bank account.

Caution is certainly required but not the sort of caution which Conrad advises. I'd say don't get hooked on the gambling, don't do it until you understand it and don't go pressing the wrong buttons by mistake.
  • I am a real advocate of matched betting, look at my sig to see where I am now. If the folks on the matched betting board hadn't helped me I would still be in debt.

My advice is to read all the sticky threads on the matched betting board several times, then download the matcher spreadsheet. Then select a bet and do a dry run without betting money. Post all your questions in the newbie thread and you will be looked after, you are in safe hands and the only risk is human error, however, if you follow the rules that risk is really really low.

To sumarise matched betting look at this example.

If you sign up with the coral, bet £50 of your own money, the coral will give you a free bet of £50

So, you match your first bet (your own money) and loose around 2%

    so you have say £48

You then match the free bet for another 2% loss and end up with £48

So your total profit is in extracting the cash from your free bet, so you end up with £46 profit and you still have your own £50.

Now, this is a simple example and not all sites are the same, so ensure you reads the terms and conditions when signing up. If you can start of with £200 you can make £500 very easily within 2-3 weeks.
