Is the money in a deposit scheme?
Yeah we did have the deposit in a scheme, but when I got into contact with them found out that once you have permanently vacated the property you have three months only to raise a deposit dispute.
Moved out in July 2010, LL strung me along for 4 months promising me the money, and actually sent me cheque which then bounced and then suddenly since then has been extremely hard to get hold of!Personal Loan £5093.85/£18,000
Joint personal loan £2620.72/£11,500
Overdraft £500/£2100
Total Paid off so far = £8214.57

As has been advised, just send a copy (normal post with proof of posting - don't use recorded) to both addresses. Once the deadline in the letter has expired proceed to court. The court will "assume", since you used the address on your tenancy agreement, that the LL received the letter and will write to him at that address. If he continues to ignore the court then you will win by default.
If, once you start enforcement action, your LL crawls out of the woodwork and claims to have never received your letter or the court documents then the court may accept (probably will) a statutory declaration from him to this effect. This will reset the claim and the court will hear it again (at no cost to you) - but only after your LL has disclosed his correct address. Assuming you win, you will now have the correct address for enforcement action.
Don't faff or delay like you did with the deposit - there is no need.0 -
Have spoken to the RM customer services and the letter is going to be sent back to me! Ive tracked the 2nd letter which Ive sent to the address on the land registry and it has not been signed for yet and its been well over a week from when I sent it!
I sent both letters recorded delivery, and Ive got the the receipts with tracking numbers with the address to where I sent them to. Is that enough for proof of postage???
No, it isn't! You were advised at the end of last week to re-send two copies of your letter by first-class post and retain proof of postage. Why haven't you done that yet? If you're getting frustrated at the delay you must accept that it's partially your fault now.

Just updating on the progress of my claim....... I resent the letters with proof of postage with no reply from the ex LL after the 14days!
I then filed a claim with the court who sent another letter out to him but still he hasn't replied or acknowledged my claim...so finally today I've asked the court to make a judgment with my case! So waiting to hear!!Personal Loan £5093.85/£18,000
