Housing Benefit & DLA

Hi everyone, I would like some advice please.
I am 21 years old and in my first year of uni. I have been awarded maximum student load and grant, as I live in rented accommodation on my own thorough a local housing association, and have done since I was 17. I claim the lower rate disability living allowance. I would like to know where I stand on housing benefit? I have a part time job, but it seems that since I started uni my manager doesn't want to know, and never gives me hours, and believe me, I have tried. Any help or advice would be great, thanks, Kaylee.

Full-time students
Although most full-time higher education students are not entitled to income-related benefits, certain groups may be able to make a claim.
The full rules are listed in the Income Support and Housing Benefit regulations. But as a general guide, you may be able to claim income-related benefits if you:- are a lone parent
- have a partner who is also a student - and one or both of you are responsible for a child
- have a disability, and qualify for the disability premium, severe disability premium or income-related Employment and Support Allowance

It is probably worth you double checking with your student advisory/welfare service, searching for grants on the Turn2us site and checking for any other things you could be eligible for.
