hi i am looking for any info to what we might be asked to pay for my stepson.
My husband has 2 children from a previous relationship 1 who is 19 and 1 who is 16 in further education .T hey have been living abroad for the past 7 years and we have been paying his ex 80 per week for both of them direct to her .
They have now moved back but 1 has finished education and now at work we have recieved a leeter from the csa to l;ook into the payments.
We have spoken to his ex and she thinks we should carry on paying her£ 80 for 1 now still .
So she has gone back to the csa asking them to look back into the payments .The case was opened in 2002 but after a time she decided to just let us pay her direct as at tyhe time the csa said we could not pay anything as we wernt on enough income as i was not working .
are details are as follows we have 2 children aged 7 and 8 between us my husband is a subcontractor and earns £250 a week brings home £200 I EARN £60 per week we also get £128 tax credits wftc and ctcthen the £34 child benefit .
Then she has the 2 kids but only 1 in educatioN.
i am concerned ti how much we will now be asked to pay as we was finding the £80 hard to find being helped out with our parents .
thanku

TO be honest, have you called the CSA and asked them? they will calculate it over the phone for you whether or not the case is being followed up is down to the other party saying thats the method they want to do. £80 per week actually sounds like a rather large amount considering 2 would mean 20% of net wage so should only be £40 if through the CSA... if my maths is correct...0

On the basis of £200 net pay per week, you having two children in the household and paying maintenance for 1 child your liability would be £24 per week. I’m not 100% sure which benefits are taking into account as your husbands income but if you look at the worse case scenario they’d use half of it and that would equate to your maintenance liability increasing to £32 per week. Either way it’s a lot less than the £80 per week that you’ve been paying.0

thanku I know that we are on the old csa before 2003 do you mean you think £80 sounds alot for 1 child or for when we were paying for the 2 how do you work the amounts out ? please0

If you post on the CSA board (at the top of this benefits one - it's a sub board) there is a poster called Kelloggs who is a whizz at CSA1. She would know what you would have to pay on the income figures you have given. £80 a week for one child sounds like a lot though.Olympic Countdown Challenge #145 ~ DFW Nerd #389 ~ Debt Free Date: [STRIKE]December 2015[/STRIKE] September 2015

Not sure if you can, a board guide would probably have to do it for you - but if you highlight, copy and paste the contents of your first post into a new thread on that board it will show up in there.Olympic Countdown Challenge #145 ~ DFW Nerd #389 ~ Debt Free Date: [STRIKE]December 2015[/STRIKE] September 2015
