Homelet - Downgraded Rent ?

Have seen a few posts on here re: homelet, but couldn't see any situation similr to mine and was hoping someone may be able to help advise.
I applied on Monday to rent a flat at the rate of £595 per month. Because I have a poor credit history (defaults plus one CCJ in 2009 for £1400) I declared these and also had my father's details provided as guarantor.
My income is now good (32k) though the guarantor income is 15k, he is a homeowner with very good credit rating. Due to the shortfall in guarantor's income, the letting agent agreed for me to pay an amount upfront to cover the deficit - this was the total of 5 x months of £185 (thus £925) on top of the first months rent & deposit.
I have been really worried that this wouldn't go through despite our best efforts, since Homelet seem so strict on CCJs. Not only for the fact that I love the flat (would be my first home without sharing) but also since I paid a non-refundable fee of £200 for refs etc.
When I called Homelet this morning they confirmed they had completed their checks but I was to contact the agent. The agent then said that it is incomplete, due to some complications. He claimed that Homelet have 'downgraded the rent' so it has had to be upgraded and returned to them.
ANy idea what this means? What are my chances of this being successful? Sorry for the long post, thought it best to provide all info! Any advice very much appreciated
