  • We don't really need the DVDs. Its only dd who watches them. Entertainment, we go out twice a month for a meal with friends. We could change this to a quick drink with them instead, never really enjoy it anyway - the kids always play up!!
Dp loves playing football though, guess £5 a week isn't that bad.
  • Johnindebt, we have cancelled it now. We've had it over 2 years. We're waiting for the inspector to come and look at it but they're taking their time about it. I've cancelled the direct debit now so they can't take anymore money. I paid the outstanding insurances out of the emergency fund when I cancelled it.
Thanks for the advice re the dvds Jillie1974.
I have cut down the food quite alot. I've got a 10 week old so have to buy nappies. It will probably go down when I go back to work, keep eating when I'm home all day.
Thanks for all your help guys

Sounds like you have done everything correctly

I've seen cases where they're chasing people for over £7000

  • You again. Yawn...

For the millionth time: matched betting is NOT gambling. We call gambling "mugs' betting". As long as you follow the MB rules and don't place any mugs' bets (ie unmatched) it's completely risk-free.

Hi, Sorry to be thick, I am new, what is matched betting?
  • I found that website you posted through a link on here before I cancelled it. It made me be really careful and make sure I had everything in writing. I've read about how horrible they can be.

Theres a board explaining it all on here - gambling introductory offer loopholes. Read the 'easy free money with matched betting' thread.
Its confusing to start with but it clicks eventually.

Mrs. Sparkle, thats what they all say thats how it starts. You are in enough debt to know better. Im certain ive forgotten more about gambling than you'll ever know if you live to be 100.
People on debtfree wannabees need sensible long-term advice that works, not that drivel from idiots like you.

How dare you. I'm a heavily pregnant woman and do not wish to be abused like this. Sensible long-term advice is the right way to go, definitely, but there is a loophole there to be made use of and a lot of people on here could well do with a few hundred or thousand pounds for the sake of a few hours' work. I've never gambled in my life and don't intend to start now. How dare you call me an idiot when it's pretty obvious you're the one who's messed up with gambling not me. Oh, and you know NOTHING about my personal situation so please refrain from judging me.

I've made £300 or so from matched betting so far and have absolutely no inclination to start "gambling" in the traditional sense. Matched betting suits me – I don't like leaving the result up to fate. It's more or less risk-free as long as you're scrupulously cautious about checking and double-checking that you've laid the bets correctly. I only lay/bet on football teams because there is almost no risk that the match will be cancelled. It's a bit complicated but works well. I don't know anyone who's tried it who says otherwise.

I know you're 25k in debt dear that tells me all i need to know. People on here are mostly ALREADY addicts in one form or another and take it from me, gambling is addictive as it gets.
By the way your assumption is wrong.

Please be nice to all moneysavers. And if you can't be nice, politely disagree. Why stoop to calling people names?

You've had gambling problems in the past so the matched betting is not going to help you and you seem to think it's gambling, when lots of people have explained to you that it's not. It's not a system like punters for horse races or traders for football. It is covering all your bases so the outcome of what you're betting on doesn't matter.

I will stop hijacking this thread now so the OP gets some real help instead of degenerating into another tracker v the matched gambling brigade insult fest.
