Radiators will not shut down

I have a relatively newly installed system and have just discovered that some of my radiators come on when the heating is timed to come on even thoough the TRV's are set to off. This means that I am heating spare rooms etc. unnecessarily.
Any suggestions?

You could shut off the balancing valve at the other end, but I would only do that as a last resort. ( If you do, count the number of turns needed to close it and then you can reinstate it when needed.)
I would contact the person that fitted it for you.I used to be indecisive but now I am not sure.0 -
Hi peat
Corgi guy replying...
T.R.V.s can be fitted at either end of the rad (except older ones) Run the heating with all the valves open and, as the system heats up, note which pipe heats up first. The one that heats first is flow the other is return.
How many flow pipes have a T.R.V.?
If a T.R.V is fitted to the return end it is possible to get some heat into the rad even though the T.R.V. is off. It might only get luke warm.
Other possibility is dirt/solder stuck on the T.R.V. valve seat.(A good reason to have the system flushed after installation.!)Ask to see CIPHE (Chartered Institute of Plumbing & Heating Engineering)0 -

You cant turn mine;)
There should only 1 with a head to turn, all valves close clockwise.0 -

Most thermostatic heads will have a frost setting, so they will not close completly if the room is very cold, also some have small locking pins which can be used to set min/max temp, they could need pully out and re-setting.0
