Green Flag - auto renew
Readers should be aware of the increasing practice of auto renewal, not only by Green Flag breakdown insurance but also across a wide spectrum of other insurance policies and service contracts. It is a sneaky way of taking money from your credit/debit card if you forget your renewal date and haven't given clear instructions that you do not want auto renewal. The sales pitch is 'peace of mind' that you are always covered! Before you realise, you are in another 12 month contract when there are could be better offers elsewhere. Check your Green Flag policy.

Thanks - I had the same thing happen with the RAC - no warning, no letter, just find out after the fact that they had charged me, and far more than I paid the first year.0

Yep - I specifically rang Green Flag several times in the months leading up to the end of my 12 month period to check they had me flagged as NOT auto-renewing.
Twice it had reverted back. I ended up calling on renewal day and cancelling myself.0
