I recently bought a digital picture frame off ebay, it worked for 2 days and stopped but its under a guarantee and i have e-mailed the seller. My problem is that i have put loads of pics of my son onto the internal memory and as the screen wont turn on i cant get them off to send it back and dont want to send it back with all my pics on it, anyone know where i would stand??

What model is it - there may be a way of getting the photos off without turning it on.What is this life if, full of care, we have no time to stand and stare0

its a kodak easyshare d830 great frame was really pleased with it til it stopped working, but have no idea how you would wipe memory, i'll try and google it!0 -
There may be a small, hidden, recessed reset button/function somewhere. But if you can't get the pics off, and it goes back to Kodak, they are likely to either bin the device or wipe all memory etc if sold as a refurb0

Guess next time around, it might be worthwhile investing in a cheap SD card. I suppose you've done this as the manual helpfully states: "Unplug the power cable for 5 seconds, then reconnect the cable. Press and hold the power button (for about 2 seconds), then release" (I'd be surprised if this'll help!)
tried it abaout 5 times! i couldnt find anything on line so talking to a rep online from kodak now will report back!0 -
I don't see what the issue is, the seller is very unlikely to care about pictures of your son. There's no sense crying over every mistake.

spoke to kodak they cant really help unfortunately, apart from give me a number to call, but the seller has since called me and is sending a replacement today (impressive for a ebay seller!) so i can at least try the power lead of the new one before i send it back!, seems to be no way of wiping memory, however if anyone wants to wipe memory of a working one just hold down power and mode button apparently!
thanks all0 -
What happens if you connect it to the computer - does it show up in My Computer? If so you should be able to right click on the device and format it.What is this life if, full of care, we have no time to stand and stare0

simple, dont comment if you dont see the issue, i'm not going to defend my point, other parents will understand my concerns.
I understand your concerns quite well I just think they are completely unfounded.
Even if you do manage to wipe the pictures from the storage in the picture frame they would be easy for someone to recover. Solid state memory in particular is very difficult to completely erase even with repeated writes of random data. So even using what would traditionally be a secure method of wiping data the images would most likely still be able to be recovered.
It's very likely that whoever you return the photoframe to will be able to recover the images you put on there no matter what you do, unless you remove and physically destroy the memory, so really why worry. There's no sense crying over every mistake.
