Hello from me & a little update

Hi everyone :hello:

Just thought I'd pop in to say hello & let you know I haven't forgotten about you all, it has been really hard to post lately as we have a houseful at the moment due to my oldest son & his fiance moving in with us, with 6 people here its hard to find a quiet minute on my own to post. But this morning everyone is out, bliss!

I have been reading your posts most days & cheering you all on, there have been some fantastic milestones reached lately so well done to you all! :T I feel so proud of all the dfw's

I am really pleased to say that this month we have been able to come off our dmp with cccs & are going it alone :):D I never would have thought it would have been possible at the beginning of the year but thanks to all the moneysaving advice on here we have been able to increase our cccs payment 4 times this year & in addition we have paid off 3 smaller debts by saving money from our budget. We have 3 loans left to pay now & have contacted all our creditors & are able to make overpayments on them all. So next year every penny is going on overpayments & we hope to be down to around £12000 by xmas 07 :) Still a long way to go but we feel so much more in control of our money now, its great!

I would really like to say thank you to the cccs who are fantastic & have enabled us to start to get our lives back on track & a huge thanks to all the dfw's & Martin too, you are all fantastic people :T

Forgot to say we will be sub 25k next week too! :j

Good luck everyone & thanks, will try & post again soon.

xx

I really love hearing stories like yours Ozzyfan, when people have been able to make cutbacks to their SOA for the DMP and be able to pay off the debt much quicker than the DMP can :j I think its brilliant what your achieving!!! :T

  • Hello jillie1974 & well done on your dmp payments so far :T

We've managed it by selling the car (was only an old 2nd hand one but saved loads on the running costs), getting rid of sky, cooking all meals from scratch, increasing income by claiming benefits we were entitled to that we didn't know about before (youngest son is autistic) keeping a spending diary, changing utility suppliers, xmas has been funded entirely from pigsback vouchers, vouchers from surveys, quidco, clubcard/nectar points this year, all the usual things that everyone recommends on here! They really do work.

Have you posted an SOA on the forum yet, sorry if you have already, I'm a bit behind with the posts! Everyone here is brilliant at seeing where you could possibly cut back & save a few pounds.

Good luck with your dmp xx

  • Congratulations of your achievements.

Thats great news. You should be very proud of yourself. Sounds like you have made some big changes which are having an impact on your debts.

You'll be debt free in no time!
