Garage Has Had My Vespa A Month - Any Advice?

Hi Guys,

I hope you are all looking forward to the weekend?

My Vespa broke down a month ago now and we walked it to the garage. Within a week they had diagnosed the problem (cam chain snapped) and ordered the part. From there on we have been told it will be fixed within a day or two. They said they needed another part, we were told it had arrived and they were physically working on it there and then. Then we were told the part hadn't arrived.

We have had multiple promises it would be done, the last definite was last Friday/Saturday, to which it still hasn't.

Now we want to go back tomorrow and walk it back home. Will we have to pay him anything? Should I phone them today and say something?

Any advice greatly appreciated as dont want to fork out for a bike that is not fixed.

Thank you xxxx

If they have done any work on it, then expect a bill for it.

Tell them if it's not fixed within 7 days you will remove it, it may just gee them up. Assuming they have bought parts they will have costs and you also have labour to pay.
Maybe take a "big bloke" with you, with no disrespect youngsters can get had over if the garage takes on a superior attitude.

Leaving it with them will at least ensure that if there is trouble after the repair, they cannot lay it off on the 2nd garage.

    Just a view;);)
I like the thanks button, but ,please, an I agree button.

Will the grammar and spelling police respect I do make grammatical errors, and have carp spelling, no need to remind me.;)

Always expect the unexpected:eek:and then you won't be dissapointed

To be honest, it sounds like you need to strike up some rapport with them, sit down, and find out what the problem really is, almost sounds like they are trying to do it on the cheap for you, getting away with as little work/cost as possible for you, only finding they need something else, maybe you need to explain that within reason you want it fixed.

Just thought, does the Vespa actually have a camchain? if it has and it has snapped, potentially it could have destroyed the engine, meaning mega bucks, maybe that is what they are trying to protect you from?

Reading your post it has just sunk in that something like this may/must be the case. We have been really nice, and when I went to get it MOT's we did have a long chat with the guy, and thought we got along. I just wish they would be honest, and say if there was another problem, OH has gone there before, and not had much luck. So annoying!

Ok, we will ask them for frankness and fingers crossed its not totally wrecked.
