Hi I'm really hoping someone can help me as I'm really confused?? I am currently employed 17 hrs a week. I have a condition that has affected me since I was sixteen (but intermitantly). I tried to claim ESA in 2009 but was told I had not paid enough contributions, so was forced to go back to work and have been struggling ever since. I have recently been signed off again by my doctor and I dont know if I will be able to return (if ever). My boss is applying pressure and wants to know if I will be returning and I just dont know what to do. Do I just cut my losses and quit? Will I be entitled to any help? I would really appreciate it if someone could help!!:(:(:(

Do you live with anyone, or have savings over £16,000? Are you currently receiving SSP?Gone ... or have I?0

Whatever your situation, which I'm sorry but I can't answer with your entitlement. However, with regard your employer - if your doctor has signed you off work which means he doesn't believe you are fit to work, DO NOT QUIT YOUR JOB IN ANY CIRCUMSTANCE as this would affect any entitlement of any benefit you may be entitled to!
If you have given your employer a sick note from your doctor then he knows (surely!) that you are not fit to work! Don't take on any pressure your boss puts upon you, if your employer sacks you then take your case to unfair dismissal!! Just tell your boss that you are not able to work as you have a sicknote from your doctor!0 -
Thank you for your advice. I just thought maybe it would be easier just to quit rather than have the hassle of my boss breathing down my neck.0

I do understand how you are feeling but you should not be getting hassle from your boss. Tell your boss that you have a sicknote and that he/she has to accept it. You have to be straight about it, you don't need hassle and feeling guilty as this will not help your health one bit.0
