Problems with British Gas.Please help!!
I have got two houses and all I ever had on both is a prepay meter for gas.British Gas have billed me 3214 pounds for one house and 44 pounds for the other. I rang british gas and informed them that I have a prepay meter but they told me that I have to pay the amount and now they have gone to an extent of registering a default with the credit agencies against my name on this and handed my account to the debt collectors.
Further more on one of the houses I do not even remember signing up for their services.I know that because thats where I live.
I think this stinks and it cant be right. British Gas is abusing their powers, please help. I have to fight back but HOW? Can contact me on joweek97@aol.com if you do not want to use forum

What is the £3214 bill for? How long for?
Has the house been let?
Why are BG abusing their powers? You surely must have had lots of bills/letters etc before BG took such a step.
There are plenty of ways of 'fighting back' if BG are in the wrong, but you haven't explained the problem in sufficient detail to give advice.0 -
This infor pertains to the 44 pounds bill. They did send me some communication but I challenged them on how they got to that amount when I had a prepay meter and and I received a letter notifying me that I had been using the wrong prepayment card so they sent me what they said was the right one "so that they can track their money down from my previous provider"(At that point thats when I realised that I had my providers switched without my knowledge)However I did use their card it twice . I then changed the provider because I was angry with them. How ever I got a letter back saying I need to pay it but they was no exlanation as to how they got to that amount considering that they were going to track their money down. I catagorically told them I was not going to pay it unless I get an explanation on what was going on. So they sent my name to a debt collector who I discussed the situation with and in the mean time they had gone on to register a default on my account of 44 pounds0

by the way they now have just phoned about the first one , the 3214 pounds one and said it appears that my house is registered as having both a prepay and a metered electric and now they are looking into it. Why did it take them a year to notice that? I started ring them when it was around 2 grand and all they promised was to look in to it, but now they have said a bit more than just we will look into it. Let wait and see. But am still puzzled by th 44 pounds tho0
