Yeah. All Sky+ boxes are naff. They are prone to go wrong and a waste of money. Go back to video plus. It was guaranteed to work. This country is called Great Britain. It would be called Amazing Britain if it wasn't for people like you pulling the average down0

Video Plus! Brilliant, absolute blast from the past! Never used it, would always miss the 1st 2 minutes and last 3 minutes of any programme!
Someone (not sky) needs to invent a recordable device that knows when a programme starts and ends, so even if it is running late it will tape it at the right times!
We had the same probs with our sky +, just froze one day and wouldnt turn back on! The official word from sky? We had to buy another box for £60 something, and subsequently 'lost' 6 unwatched episodes of 24 and 4 prison break! thank god for uk tv gold, caught up with PB in the end, still waiting on 24. Martin makes reference to this problem somewhere in his pages (sorry, not sure how to link) and says that if you threaten to leave sky or something, they will replace it for free, but that still doesnt replace the lost recorded programmes! I've heard a lot of bad press about sky + and have had the unfortunate experiences to prove that they are true! you can get DVD recorders with Hard Drives now, but not sure how good they are, and again, this doesnt answer the problem of taping one sky chanel and watching another!
Just kick yourself, and throw the machine out of the window! Its all you can do (or read Martins advise on sky!):eek:0 -
ajbrynoffa,
Had the same problem as you. Because the Sky+ box was more than a year old, we had to pay £60 and lost all our recorded programmes. Worth having a moan and say you are thinking of cancelling.0 -
Its actually less than a year old and seems to be ok at the moment so i`ll just keep an eye on it and phone sky if needs be.......thanks.A shadowy flight into the dangerous world of a man who does not exist.

I would watch your recorded programmes and report it to Sky. Mine just got worse and worse. You don't want to be in the situation where it is OK and then starts playing up when the warranty expires.
Sky said that the engineer would carry out tests and try to repair it. However, when the engineer came and was told what the problem was, he just disconnected it and replaced it. He said that it probably cpould not be fixed and would end up being replaced anyway.0 -
Yeah mine does this from time to time too. Normally a housekeeping run from the installers menu sorts it out though.

The technically-minded out there may be interested in the hidden "installer" menu, that can be accessed by pressing 'Services 4 0 1 Select':
Run the Sky + Planner rebuild - will reboot but you wont lose anything.0 -
