filling out an application form - is typed acceptable?

I've been emailed an application form for a job position which I'm interested in.

I was wondering is it's acceptable to type out the application form as opposed to handwrite it? My handwritting is fairly large and I don't think there would be enough space... would this be OK?

I'm not looking to email it back, I'll print it off, sign it and send it by post.

I'm sorry if this is a stupid question.

I'd never handwrite an application form.
A kind word lasts a minute, a skelped erse is sair for a day.
  • I've just completed an e-mailed application form and will be returning it via e-mail having confirmed that this is OK (they were over a week late in sending it to me in spite of follow up phone calls).

Unless an employer specifies handwritten applications or I don't have an electronic copy I always prefer to type applications.

Does it specify it should be handwritten?

No it doesn't specify. I just wanted to be 100% certain that this was OK.

I've never been emailed an application form for a job before (despite applying for around 300 jobs since July!). All other applications have been submitted by email with covering letter and attaching a copy of my CV or I've applied via job sites.

I know it might seem like a very silly question and perhaps I'm over thinking things but I just want to get it right :)

Not a silly question at all. :)

I just meant unless it specifically says it should be handwritten (which some do) then typed or handwritten is fine.

    Ah, OK. Thank you :D

Thanks for all your comments everyone!

Still working on this form... I just need to format it so it looks neat and tidy, I should be able to post it tomorrow.

Most of the forms I have ever filled in are typed and sent via e-mail. When asked for signature just type your name. Edit: sorry I meant type your name if e-mailing it (as signing it is somewhat difficult when e-mailing).
Wanted a job, now have one.

If they have emailed it, unless they have also said to post it to them, I would submit it by email too. Quicker, cheaper, efficient and you have a copy.

I can count on one hand how many times i've had to use handwriting in the past 3 years.....
There's no way i'd use my out of practice handwriting to fill out a job application.

When you never use it and are out of practice, what exactly does it show? how is it fair to judge someone on that? Should I spend my evenings practising just in case by some random miracle I have to hand write my autobiography one day? get lost.....
