renting -do i need to move electroll roll?

hi guys

single guy about to rent first place. i intend to buy in around 18 months, just my deposit is currently tied up in bonds and such and will mature at that time, i am happy to leave it 18 months anyway.

decided want to move out of parents home now anyway, i have squecky clean credit history and been at same parents address all my life, i would imagine this will help me when i am after a mortgage in 18 months as it shows stabilty as ive been at the same place on the electorl roll and same job etc throughout all this time

now my question for you vets, since my renting is a tempoary venture to put me on till i can buy in 18 months, by renting do i have to change my address on the electrol when i move out of parents house, and change address on my employment and all credit cards etc?

i would hate to think i upset my credit record stabilty for the sake of a 18 month period where i am moving about a bit, because there is a chance i will rent 2 places in this time, then probably move back home for a short period whilst sorting my mortgage out ready to buy

i will of course be paying council tax, so i doubt i can just not tell anyone about the move as they will know i am living there, or can i?
is paying the council tax linked to who is on the electrol roll at that address? or are they not bothered as long as the tenant is paying it

do you understand my concern or is it not a worry?

any advice appreciated

cheers money savers
