Renting and what to pay?

Options
This may be a stupid question to ask so please forgive me but I cannot find the answer!

If I was deciding to rent a property, what would the £xxx pcm include? I know on flats you have to pay a service charge each month if you own the property, so would you be liable to pay this on top of your monthly rental if you were just renting the flat?

Also, what other costs do I have to factor other than deposit and then bills per month?

Thanks!

I would expect the owner to pay the charge, though he may pitch the rent higher to cover it.

Bills will include Council Tax, gas, electricity, water, TV licence, telephone, broadband, tenant's insurance.....

It depends upon the landlord, and the flat, there is no standard answer to this. In order to get an idea of the cost for your chosen are look on rightmove or ring one of your local agents.

If you're on benefits it might be worth checking out the Local Housing Allowance which is the maximum amount that Housing Benefit will pay for a particular type of property in your area.

    Good Luck

Service charge is normally paid by the landlord, not the tenant.

As well as gas/electric/water bills, remember to factor in council tax, phone, broadband etc
