best time to buy a new car, beginning or end of month?

I am going to buy a new car, originally 1 or 2 years old, but after looking at some of the deals going, for not much more, I could buy a brand new car.

Some place will even give me £1500 for my old micra that I am going to scrap anyway. Yes, I believe that:D

This will be my last car ever as I am 65 and will run it till I drop dead or go gaga.

I have never ever bought a new car so thought to myself, what else am I going to do with my money.

So should I buy now or wait until the end of the month?

And is £8250 a good price for a new 1 litre Corsa?

Your looking at buying a new car so i think you have already gone gaga...

£8250 is OK as long as you know if you sold it 1 year later you are going to lose over £2000,
probably closer to £3000 if you trade it in.

Buy a nice tidy 1 year old car for £6000 instead or a 2 year old car for under £5000.

One on autotrader, Private seller £4800 with 6500 miles on the clock.

Lots of low mileage cares about, I presume a lot will be ex mobility cars.

But I am not going to sell it. I am going to keep it.

Just for once in my life I am going to get what I want, a brand new car that nobody has owned before me. And if it costs me £2,000 extra, so what!
What's the point of saving up all your money and not spending it?

So, buy now or wait 3 weeks?

8250 for a 1.0 Corsa?? Dangerous car with that engine IMHO.

I just bought a 1.0 Kia Picanto for £5550. Far better car than the Corsa.

(FYI - kudos for wanting brand new, it's so awesome! 80 miles on the clock atm and I love the fact that it'll always drive like I do, no problems due to the fact the 2nd owner has been the complete opposite to me :D)

If you are keeping car and plan to have it serviced by the main dealer then you want to look for the longest warranties.

    Kia
    Hyundai
Vauxhall (thread on here in the last few days debating their lifetime warranty)
    Toyota

I would also have the Fiat Panda on my short list, built in Poland and the type of car Fiat make very well and cheap as chips (<£6k), but just the norl 3 year warranty.

To answer the question, it really matters not what time of the month you buy a new car.

You may hit lucky and come across something in stock at a dealer which they want to shift, but that could happen at any time.

To not answer the question, Corsas are quite dear, although around £8,000 is the going rate.

As others have said, there have been questions over engine reliability.

Something like a Fiat Panda looks better value.

But if you like the Corsa, go for it.

Also worth remembering you drive the car, not the deal, so a couple of hundred quid is neither here nor there a few months down the line.

Just think very carefully about it. The fact that you say this a last time purchase shouldn't be taken too lightly, you may be driving it for 15+ years so make sure you can live with it, ;)

Also, as £2k doesn't seem to be an issue to you widen your options and possibly spend the extra money on a slightly older but more comfortable car.

And lastly ignore all of us and buy what you want, just take your time and make sure it's the right choice.

Just an observation, an old work mate of mine has had 3 last cars in the past 4 years, all written off in not at fault accidents, never say never or "last", take care;)
I like the thanks button, but ,please, an I agree button.

Will the grammar and spelling police respect I do make grammatical errors, and have carp spelling, no need to remind me.;)

'To answer the question', it can really make a difference to the salesmans, groups, targets if you buy or take delivery at the end of a month.

We accepted (after a marathon negotiation) a stonking offer before Xmas if we took delivery of a Ford at the end of November.

The difference was just shy of £1000 between a November or a December purchase.

The offer was on top of the already 'bargain discount' shown.

The registrations have just changed a few days ago so we are now on 11-reg. Its likely the dealer will not be chasing too many sales at the moment and bending over backwards as there will be the "keeping up with jones" types and possible fleet renewals etc going on at the moment so business may be brisk enough.

The Corsa has only just had a facelift - deliveries started Feb 2011. Although you maybe getting a brand new car, the dealer maybe shifting pre-facelift stock which is already outdated. It will look mildly different to the new model, the specs maybe lower, the engine maybe slightly different and less economical.

if its in stock have a good look at it compared to the new models in the showroom to see if you are getting the new facelift model.

You probably won't do a lot of miles either so you will benefit from their lifetime warranty scheme.
