I'm not an Apple fan boi, but your post is ridiculous.
Each product has a life span of a year. I think this is pretty much standard for an electrical product, but is longer compared to say their competition HTC who have launched their revised Desire HD within 12 months of the launch of the Desire.
To be honest, I think it's your post that is rather ridiculous. Each product has a life span of a year? Where did you pluck that information from? I had the same sony ericsson phone for years before buying an iPhone which I then had for a year and a half before selling it on ebay and upgrading to an iPhone 4 last year - which I still have.
To say products only have a life span is just silly talk and to be honest I actually agree with what was said above about apple releasing too many upgrades of their products so quickly, with updates which could have been in the original product. A post on the exceem forums a few days ago sums up what apple are doing perfectly:
Apple know what they're doing, and by the looks of it some of us have cottoned on and well some haven't.Think about it, if someone created and released the best product ever, say a phone, then there would be no need for anyone to make another phone! By holding back features they give reason to upgrade and purchase more products from them. Why do you think they're on the 5th iPhone?!! They could have put most of the features in the 1st 1 or 2!0 -

It's based on fact.
iPhone -Released June 07 - Discontinued July 08
iPhone 3G -Released July 08 - Discontinued June 09
iPhone 3GS -Released June 09 - Discontinued June 10
iPhone 4 - Released June 10 - Discontinued July 11 (TBC)

Indeed Apple's product life cycle is as follows.
Desktop/Laptops - 9 month's - 14 month's (Depending on Chipset availability)
iOS Devices, Such as iPod/iPhone/iPad - 1 Year
Software - OS 18 months - 2 Years
iLife - 18 Months
iWork - 2 Years
Pro Software 1 Year - 18 Months
Now on the price on iPad One, its a standard price drop done by Apple for everyone, some companies dont get any price protection on the price drop ie DSGi, but you will find all local Apple Store, Apple Premium Resellers will have most iPads in stock with £100 off their previous price.

i think keith meant every apple product !
For the record, I have an ipad and perfectly happy with it. I knew when I bought it (when they came out) that an ipad 2 would be round the corner but that was fine with me ... i knew what i was buying and it had everything that I wanted (didn't care about cameras etc)
I have an iphone 3gs too - now this is old hat but does everything I want it to do - and yes i will get an iphone 5 when my upgrade is available at the end of the year ...
Technology evolves - you have to jump on at some time if you want to get involved. Or stand at the sideline and wait until it is mainstream ...0 -
intresting to hear about the ipad 2. I was in the Apple store in Glasgow a few weeks ago and asked them about it and they claimed that they hadn't even heard of ipad2....but there were still plenty of ones if I was interested...
Indeed Apple staff are not allowed to speculate on new product launches in front of customers other wise they get fired.

Only 4 people in the UK know about Apple product launches all the staff first find out when the store goes down and the product arrives with them in the afternoon. There is no inside information given.0 -
although to be honest, everyone knows that apple refresh their products on a yearly cycle - and there was enough buzz in the press (technology and popular press) that it was known that an ipad 2 was coming along.0

I'm hoping to get an iPad, but only after the price gets close to £200 (hopefully quidco and TCB will help out here).
Please keep posting if anything does it does become cheaper.Wins:

To be honest, that won't happen with iPads sold by Apple. The existing stock of iPad 1's are being sold off at a discount of £110 already, and once these are gone, they won't make anymore. You might one day get a cheap first generation on eBay, but not officially for close to £200.0
