Dead Dea Facial Products

On Saturday i was in the Wood Green Shopping mall, where i was approached by a girl who asked me have i heard of the dead sea, to which i answered yes, its the place where they have special mud, near israel.
She said yes, and that she had some products that contained the minerals from this place. She asked me what products i use and i said clarins(which is mainly natural ingredients) to which she replied, no wonder your skin is looking bad, you have open pores, bumps, pigmentation problems, t spot combination skin and dry cheeks, you know they are full of chemicals, all of the facial products have chemicals and ours don't.

Then she said that toners are bad for your skin as they open the pores (i thought they were astringent and closed the pores) then she rubbed some cleanser into the back of my hand and wiped it off and said look at the difference between hands, there was none, apart from more blood flow which there would be if someone had just rubbed it!!!

To cut a long story short, she said she could guarantee this product and she would give me her "mobile"number to call her if i wasnt happy with the products after a month and that she would refund the money. Then she tried the emotional claptrap of saying, you will never get another skin, and money should be no object if you really care about your skin. She offered me the products for £70 instead of £120. I then said that i would go to a cashpoint and i'd be back to buy (had no intentions) then she said give me your card and i can swipe it. I handed over a cashpoint card, she swiped but i knew it wouldnt go through, then she spotted my solo card and said to use that, I said no, theres no money on that card, then she asked for a credit card, i said i had none. Then she said ok i will come with you to the cash machine, with the products so you dont have to come all the way back!!!!

Talk about aggressive selling, all this from a girl who claimed she was a beauty consultant 7 years qualified, and she used the products, shame i couldnt see a nice smooth skin as she promised mine would be if i used this product, as she had foundation on very thickly.

The products came in a dark blue tube with silver writing, and a dark blue jar with silver lid, so beware of these people. If their products are so good, then why aren't the big department stores selling this?? Why don't they have a store selling this instead of a two bit concessions stall in a shopping mall which will be gone next week?? I had a look on the back of the tube and it had a little white label stuck on the back of it, very cheap looking.

I should have gone to Boots and got the lady on the clarins counter to come with me, because they she was telling me clarins was full of chemicals.

Perhaps i will do that next time if i am there again.

By the way i didnt buy the products, i just told her i had to get to the post office to post a parcel first, and she was welcome to queue with me, then she said you promise you will come back, are you as good as your word (more emotional claptrap).
And yes the lady in the avatar is me

To be honest it doesnt sound as if she was much worse than any other beauty concession that the misses went to last year when she was trying to decide which brand to go for. Clarins said Este Lauda was fine if you liked wearing grease paint. MAC said that Clarins were so full of chemicals you could make their products from the cleaning stuff under your kitchen sink. Este Lauda said MAC were ok if you wanted to be trying to paint the Forth Road Bridge as by the time you had got to the last bit the first area would have worn off already and you'd have to go back and start again.

Ok... so the exact words are paraphrased but I didnt find the "big brands" in department stores any less insulting to other brands... all claimed they would improve the misses skin tone etc... all said that the other brands advice was not 100% correct... all with the exception of MAC tried a hard sell (MAC had people queuing 5 deep so obviously felt hard sell wasnt necessary.)

I just thought it was disgusting the way she wanted to accompany me to the cashpoint, is she that desperate for her commission?? She'd be better off making her money as a beauty therapist. Also, so what if my skin looks like carp, its mine to do with as i please, its actually not too bad, and i don't have to wear an inch thick layer of foundation to cover my skin, if i'm happy with it and i live with it, who is anyone else to tell me i must fork out a load of money for things i don't need??

I agree it isnt best selling practices but was simply commenting that from my experience all the beauty places are almost as bad (other than the follow to cash point).

She probably is that desperate... other than the occasional sweetie stall, have you ever seen anyone buy from one of those places? As you say, most people who are going to be wanting to buy £120 of beauty products are either going to buy their usual brand or will go to the likes of House of Fraser to get a comparison of the different brands on offer.
